Strategies for conservation of environmental changes induced by carbon dioxide rise

Carbon dioxide is the biggest contributor in the global warming. It is the gas released when coal, oil, fossil fuels and natural gas are burned. To stop or minimize global warming, here are some ways I’ve read from different posts and blogs in the internet on how to minimize environmental changes due to increased amount of carbon dioxide released in the environment.

Here are simple ways on how to conserve environmental changes induced by the carbon dioxide rise:

1. Drive an energy-efficient car.
Use hybrid cars rather than regular cars that emit massive amount of carbon dioxide. The average hybrid can save 16,000 pounds of carbon dioxide (which is considered a greenhouse gas emission) a year and gas money. As we all know hybrid cars are quite expensive, so we can also reduce carbon dioxide by commuting and using bicycles.

2. Make sure that tires are properly inflated.
Tires can release as much as 250 extra pounds of carbon dioxide annually.

3. Check your water heater or don’t use hot water if you don’t need to.
Keeping it at less than 120 degrees F can save money and emissions. An extra two degrees can save 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

4. Air-drying your clothes instead of using a dryer.
It can save 700 pounds of carbon dioxide a year and electricity. Also, clothes get cleaner when dried under the sun.

5. Take care with your appliances.
Unplug them when you don’t use them; this saves 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year because appliances still use energy if they’re plugged in, even when not in use.

6. Use energy saving light bulbs.

Compact fluorescent bulbs use 66 percent less energy and replacing just 3 regular bulbs can mean saving 300 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

7. Plant trees.
They provide cleaner air and save 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

8. Encourage others to conserve.
Share information on energy conservation, recycling, etc.

Everyone can make a difference. Changing your lifestyle is one of the simplest way to minimize the rise of carbon dioxide in the environment. Let the next generation witness the perfection of our environment. Act now. :)

  1. A very nice blog, it gives us easily attainable ways to reduce CO2 emissions, which is a very serious problem right know, everyone should be informed. We really must act before we reach the point of no return.

I would like to add something though this may not be as simple as the others, we also must reduce the use of concrete cement, because 5% of the CO2 emissions in the world comes from the production of cement :)
